Ebru 4

Ebru is an ancient art form that originated around Turkey and was made by Ottoman ebru masters and sold for VERY high prices because no one knew how to make it. Then, ebru almost dissappeared, but now it's making a big comeback, and people everywhere are using it! Have you seen those kleenex boxes with the wierd design in the squiggly lines? That's ebru, aka marbling. It's used to decorate a lot of books, too.
Basically, you flick a pigment mixture (otherwise known as paint mixed with wierd stuff) onto water and swirl it around in pretty designs. Then you put a piece of paper on top and the paint transfers to the paper! It's not hard to do, but it's extremely difficult to master.
I took a couple classes, and even though I'm not that good, I helped my art teacher get some materials and we even did it in school! I highy recommend it. You can definitely find some supplies in your area, just Google "Marbling/Ebru supplies in ______"
